Can you tell where the new growth from alopecia is? It grew in more coarse and a tighter curl pattern using only a leave in, cream, and gel. Ditched the mousse about a month ago, it was weighing down my hair

We love to celebrate a physical “glo up” but what about what’s going on inside.I didn’t have low self worth because my hair wasn’t curly, I had no idea it was even curly. With that said, what has happened on this journey has been something beautiful

💛As I was learning to love my natural hair I also started loving myself. Something I had no idea would come or that I even needed. I thought I was fine how I was.I stopped trying to be someone I’m not. I think really I finally WOKE UP. When you’re not really sure of who you are, it’s hard to figure out who you want to be and you’re easily molded by others around you. It’s especially hard when life throws hard balls at you

💛At 14 my life completely changed when I found out I was adopted at just 9 months old(a story for another time)I think I used this as a crutch/excuse to act out and not care about others feelings. When you’re miserable on the inside, without realizing you try to make others miserable as well

💛It’s as if my hair is the perfect metaphor for my self growth. I finally just let go and let myself be vulnerable. It was hard first transitioning. I never liked my hair natural.I slowly convinced myself that my hair was GOOD ENOUGH. I became more comfortable w/o straight hair, I started loving ME then I realized I WAS GOOD ENOUGH and I hope teenagers can learn this early because life is so much better being truly happy
