Parenting can feel a little easier when we better understand what is happening inside a child’s developing brain. The Whole-Brain Child is a 7-week series that gives parents practical tools to strengthen connection, support emotional development, and respond to challenging moments with greater understanding.

WHY. It’s something many of us as therapists and clinicians think about at different points in our careers, especially on the hard days. Sometimes it helps to reconnect with what drew us to this work in the first place and the moments that have made it meaningful along the way. What helps you remember your “why” when you need it most?

Healing does not happen only through words. Our trauma-sensitive yoga group uses gentle movement, mindful breathing, and body awareness to help participants reconnect with themselves in a safe and supportive environment. Over time, these practices can support emotional regulation, resilience, stress management, and greater trust in the body.

Better care starts with understanding what works. Mental health research helps us stay current, evaluate treatment approaches, and provide care grounded in evidence—not assumptions. At TTC, continued learning is part of how we support each client with thoughtful, effective, and compassionate care.

Our very own Kate Bunch will be presenting at the 9th Annual Philadelphia Trauma Training Conference, July 29–30, 2026, at Thomas Jefferson University. This year's theme, From Principles to Practice: Cross-Sector Skill Building for Trauma-Informed Systems, brings together providers, educators, leaders, and community members from across health, education, and social service sectors for two days of practical learning, collaboration, and skill-building.

Everyday activities can become difficult following trauma, illness, injury, developmental delays, or other health challenges. Occupational therapy helps individuals develop the skills needed to participate more fully in daily life - from learning, play, and self-care to relationships, social activities, and work. The goal is meaningful progress in the routines that matter most.

The confidence that comes from knowing how to protect yourself can extend far beyond the mat. Jiu-jitsu has long been important to our founder Kate, and she has seen firsthand how learning practical skills can help women and young people feel stronger, more capable, and more confident. That is why TTC is partnering with Carlson Gracie Albuquerque BJJ for a free self-defense seminar for women ages 14+.

Join us Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m.–12 p.m.

No experience is needed. Donations will benefit Haven House. Call 505.340.1836 for more information. .souza85
