Cancer takes yearsβ€”often decadesβ€”to develop. The mistakes our government made long ago by failing to protect the public from harmful products are now being harvested by innocent Kenyans. Dangerous food ingredients, unregulated pesticides, and materials containing carcinogens such as lead in paint were allowed into daily life with little oversight.
Our education system and scientific leadership also failed the public. There has been little to no proper education on the safe handling of agricultural chemicals. Farmers and workers are exposed daily, often without training or protective equipment.
Even during road construction and repairs, hazardous chemicals are used without regard for public safety. Bitumen and other toxic materials are left exposed, dust is allowed to spread freely, and no water is applied to control contamination. People inhale these chemicals unknowingly.
Kenyans are surviving purely by the grace of God.
These mistakes have been committed continuouslyβ€”from independence to today. We simply do not care enough about prevention, safety, or long-term consequences. And now, the results are clear: cancer cases are rising rapidly in Kenya.
Make no mistakeβ€”this is not an accident. It is the cost of neglect.
