The City of Richardson’s Economic Development Department was honored to host delegates from Keelung City, Taiwan, before they made the journey home last week.
Representatives from the Keelung City government traveled from Taiwan to Texas for a signing ceremony establishing a Friendship City Agreement, which promotes collaboration in educational, cultural, artistic, and economic opportunities. Before returning home, Richardson Economic Development Director Chris Shacklett led the delegation on a private tour of The IQ®HQ, a hub that brings together Richardson’s Economic Development Department, UT Dallas Catalyst, DORADO 5G OpenLab, and Startup Runway under one roof.
With Richardson recognized by the Texas Legislature as the International Business Capital of North Texas, partnerships like these strengthen the city's global connections and create opportunities for collaboration with international businesses and communities.
A special thank you to the Greater Dallas Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, UT Dallas Vice President for Research and Innovation Dr. Joseph Pancrazio, and OpenLab @ UT Dallas Director Dr. Andrea Fumagalli for helping make the delegation’s visit a memorable one.
Yesterday, we posted about the City welcoming a delegation from Keelung City, Taiwan, that was here to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cultural, educational, and economic opportunities between our communities.
During their visit, the delegation toured Richardson’s Public Safety Campus, met with City staff and learned about the innovative programs and services that help keep Richardson moving forward.
We followed along the tours to get insights from the mayor of Keelung City, and our mayor, about the visit and their thoughts on future economic opportunities these types of ties create.
