Donโt let those pumpkins rot at the landfill! Instead, make sure to add them to your compost pile, feed them to your flock as a yummy treat, or donate them to a local farm to help feed their livestock. ๐๐งก
Chickens need a high protein diet, especially during molting season when they are growing new feathers ๐ชถ If they are lacking enough protein kn their diet, you may start to notice broken or missing feathers on them. This means they are using each otherโs feathers for a protein source. Provide them supplemental snacks like canned chicken or scrambled eggs to give them that extra protein boost. (I know it seems weird but they are omnivores and will eat it up!) ๐

Molting chickens are a HOT mess! ๐ชถ Weโve got some scraggly looking birds (they even lost their tail feathers this round!) walking around with pin feathers galore. ๐ Meanwhile, my backyard looks like you shook a pillowcase everywhere and no one is laying any eggs ๐
Feeding cows was the highlight of our weekend! ๐๐

Rainbow egg appreciation post! ๐๐ I have an Ameraucana, a Starlight Green Egger, and an Olive Egger. We normally get light green eggs, dark green (sometimes with speckles), and cream, but someone recently laid a BLUE egg!!! Of course, right after this everyone decided it was a good time to molt and stop producing ๐ What color eggs do your hens lay? Let us know in the comments!
Composting is not a hobby, itโs a lifestyle ๐ช๐ป Once you make the habit switch, there is no turning back! Let us help you learn to turn your food waste into something wonderful and beneficial - send us a message to get started today. ๐
