May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month 🤍
Celebrating our amazing speech therapists and the patients who show up, work hard, and make progress every single day ✨
Because every voice deserves to be heard.
One of the easiest ways to support your baby’s movement?
Give them space 🤍
More space = more opportunities to explore, reach, pivot, and crawl.
Try this: step out of the playpen sometimes and spread toys out to encourage movement. A little distance can go a long way in building strength, coordination, and confidence ✨
Crawling isn’t just about getting from point A to point B. It helps develop coordination, core strength, visual skills, body awareness, balance, and integrates reflexes/sensory system, while strengthening the shoulders, hips, and hands… all foundations for future skills.
Crawling also plays an important role before walking, helping babies build the strength, stability, and coordination needed to stand, cruise, and take those first steps.
Most babies start crawling somewhere between 6–10 months.
If your baby isn’t showing attempts to move on their tummy, push up, or pivot by around 9–10 months, reach out to your pediatrician about a PT or OT referral.
