Then my band is back at Dark Horse, Annapolis 9-12 on Thurs 9/10 🌭

Improvising over the chords to a song I'm about to bring into the studio, "Thick Skin" while also spending some time exploring tones from the Head rush MX5, a nifty little compact digital pedalboard that I've owned for a few years but never take time to mess around with. With the possibility of more fly dates happening in 2027 (as well as having a backup rig for tour), I'm trying to show more love to some of the other gear I own that has been left dormant for too long.

It's fun to play with leads in an 80s ballad mentality — so much of both the playing and the listening is simply perspective, but a lot of what seems to categorize this type of playing is the tone. Bright, medium drive sounds with quarter note delay and reverb wants to sit leads like this on stage with Bryan Adams, but the Tele pulls it back out into the open waters a bit, at least in my opinion. 🤓
