🚨 AIRBNB LISTINGS ARE BEING SUSPENDED ACROSS FRANCE AND EUROPE STARTING TODAY

A sweeping new EU law took effect today that will reshape how you book Airbnb stays across France and Europe.
⠀
Starting May 20, 2026, EU Regulation 2024/1028 requires every short-term rental to carry a government-issued registration number, or face automatic removal from booking platforms.

In France, listings without a valid registration number are being suspended as of today. Fines for non-compliance run from €10,000 to €60,000.
⠀
Paris already caps most Airbnb rentals at 120 nights per year. Amsterdam limits them to just 30. Barcelona is phasing out all 10,101 tourist apartment licenses by 2028.

Airbnb itself is warning that several EU countries are not ready to implement the rules yet - which means availability could get patchy and unpredictable fast.

For travelers, fewer compliant listings means less choice, higher prices, and more last-minute cancellations as hosts scramble to get registered.

A lovely little town tucked away in the south of France, on my first visit I missed a lot of what there was to see and do, but it was also funny to run into some other travelers from the US as the only other customers in a small restaurant that we visited. glad they were there, as they helped us to decipher the menu :-)
