Nothing says October quite like pumpkins and messy fun!

One of our Head Start classrooms spent time making pumpkin slime this week, giving students a chance to explore, create, and have fun together. Activities like this also help build fine motor skills as children squeeze, stretch, scoop, and manipulate the slime.

We love seeing learning mixed with a little seasonal excitement!

$100,000 for Central Oregon Wildfire Recovery ❤️

We're grateful to share that NeighborImpact has been awarded $100,000 through the NeighborWorks Disaster Grants program to support wildfire recovery efforts in Central Oregon, including assistance for families impacted by the devastating 2026 Warm Springs fires.

These funds will help provide emergency shelter, relocation assistance, and essential household items such as baby supplies, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and other necessities for those rebuilding after losing so much.

Thousands of Warm Springs residents were forced to evacuate this summer, and several families lost their homes. This funding will help ensure support is available when it's needed most.

Thank you to Senator Ron Wyden and Senator Jeff Merkley and Representative Janelle Bynum for advocating for resources that help Oregon communities recover and rebuild after disaster.

As our Executive Director Scott Cooper shared: "NeighborImpact values all our neighbors, including tribal neighbors, and will continue responding with resources, support, and empathy for those affected by the fires."

Together, we're helping our neighbors take the next steps toward recovery. ❤️
