25 years. And I’m still learning.

Today I stood by the window and just looked out. Something about that quiet moment made me look back — back at my journey, back at where I’ve been, back at everything that brought me to this moment.

The wins are real. But the lows? They speak louder. The rejections. The overlooked moments. The people who moved on without me. Some days that pain is heavier than any accomplishment.

But I’m definitely not staying there.

I’m looking back — not to live there, but to fuel what’s ahead. Every “no” taught me something. Every closed door showed me where I don’t belong. Every season of pain built something in me I couldn’t get any other way.

Here’s what I realized: I’ve been places. I’ve done things. I’ve worked with people most artists dream about. But I stopped reminding people. I stopped showing up fully. I let rejection quiet my voice.

Yesterday someone asked to see old videos I had stored away. Watching them again, I remembered who I was before the rejection settled in. I remembered my gift. My impact. My value.

That’s what Make Belief is about. It’s the next chapter of my story. It’s me looking back at 25 years and saying: your belief matters. Don’t let people who don’t see you kill what God put in you.

Because it’s time to remind MYSELF of who I am and where I’ve been. And when I remember, people will too.

The future isn’t determined by who overlooked me. It’s determined by who’s got me. And I’m trusting God with that.

Yesterday during video rehearsal, I broke down in serious tears and my team happened to catch the tail end of it.

Not from exhaustion — but from an overwhelming wave of gratitude. In that moment, I felt the Lord’s leading so clearly. A nudge I couldn’t shake. No matter how many times I tried to reason my way out of it, His voice keeps pulling me back to this. Calvin, SING OVER PEOPLE!

And honestly? It scares me at times because of logistics. But I’ve learned that the things God calls us to often do.

YouTube has always been and will always be a huge part of what I do. I love that space and I have so much more planned there. Things are connecting, and I’m so grateful for every single person who has tuned in. But even in the middle of that growth, God still nudged me toward something more vulnerable. More personal.

He’s asking me to step out and be real with you in a way that a screen can’t fully hold.

I’m starting an acoustic tour — intimate nights of worship, stories, and His presence. Just me, my pianist Michael Walter, and a piano. No big productions. No packed venues. Just raw, honest worship in spaces where we can go deep together.

If you’ve ever wanted to connect beyond the videos — this is that. We can worship together, share stories, and pray for one another. That’s what these nights are about.

I’m looking for intimate locations, organizers and open hearts. I’m not focused on how many people show up. I’m focused on showing up for whatever He’s calling me to.

Over 25 years, I’ve worn two hats that rarely get recognized: background vocalist and vocal producer. I’ve sung on Grammy-winning albums. I’ve arranged harmonies and directed vocal sessions on projects that went on to win. I did the work. But when submissions went in, my name wasn’t always included. On paper, I was never there.
I’m not sharing this out of bitterness — I love this work. But a lot of background vocalists and vocal producers are in the same position I was: not knowing what they’re eligible for, and not knowing how to ask.
