The kingdom of God is us, right here, choosing empathy over anxiety and love over fear. This week, we begin our Pride series with guest teacher Reverend Jaz Bowen-Waring. We can’t wait to see you there!
Saturdays at 10:00am
Paradox Kids at 9:15am
If Jesus loved the marginalized and the messy without a single asterisk, why do we think we have to have ourselves figured out before we can be loved? Faith reconstruction is painful, but learning to love yourself is the most fundamental skill there is.

We often think faith is a destination where all the questions finally stop. But if the people standing next to a resurrected Jesus still felt the tension of doubt, you are certainly allowed to feel it too. Your wonder and your worship are welcome in the same room.
We often think that if we could just see a miracle with our own eyes, all our questions would vanish. But the Gospel of Matthew tells us that when the disciples saw the resurrected Christ, they worshiped Him, and they also doubted.
Doubt isn't the opposite of faith. It has always been part of the process. Does it feel like a relief to know that you can worship and wonder at the same time?
If the disciples had questions while standing right in front of the resurrected Jesus, why do we think we have to have it all figured out? Doubt isn’t the opposite of faith, but doubt is essential to faith. What if your questions are actually part of the process?

This past weekend, we spent the morning moving our feet for families in need and our voices in songs that affirm the goodness of this life we’ve been given. There's a specific kind of hope that happens when we stop trying to be perfect and just start being present with one another.
And William Vance shared his heart today as he prepares for his next chapter, reminding us that being our authentic selves is a holy act. It was a beautiful, honest end to a morning that started with serving our Redlands community.

THIS Saturday, June 13, Paradox welcomes Rev. Jay Bowen-Waring (They/Them) as our guest teacher!
From life as a former evangelical Children’s pastor, to a q***r Lutheran rabble-rouser, Rev.Bowen-Waring has spent their adult life pursuing the call of God and creating spaces where people feel they belong.
Jaz is an ordained minister in the ELCA, and has a Master’s of Divinity from Luther Seminary. Currently they are serving as Pastor and Mission Developer at The Table OC in Fullerton, CA.
In January 2019, they launched an LGBTQ+ centered ministry called Q***rfully & Wonderfully Made, a “q***r variety show with depth and meaning”.
When Jaz isn’t manically obsessing over ministry and q***r theology, you can find them getting cute drinks with family and friends.
Jaz will be preaching on Luke 20 when she arrives at Paradox. We'd love for you to join us!
