The laundry may disagree, but this is exactly what childhood should look like. 🤎
Barefoot. Muddy. Laughing. Creating memories that won’t fit in a toy box.
It’s easy to get caught up worrying about the mess, but someday I’ll miss the sandy clothes, dirty hands, and muddy footprints on the porch. These are the moments that make a childhood.
Let them dig. Let them splash. Let them get dirty.
The mess can wait. Childhood can’t. ✨
When did we stop normalizing the good life as this kind of childhood?
A T-shirt. Shorts. Bogg boots. A bucket full of polywogs. 🐸
No expensive toys.
No packed schedule.
No screens.
Just muddy hands, curious minds, and memories being made one adventure at a time.
Maybe the good life was never about having more.
Maybe it was always about moments like this.
THIS IS THE LIFE!
It’s been over a week since NorCal Spring Fling, and honestly, I’m still replaying it in my head. 📚🚧🪨
The incredible trucks, the stories shared, the families we met, and the overwhelming support for my book made it a weekend I’ll never forget.
As someone who wrote a children’s book inspired by my dad’s transfer truck, seeing so many people connect with our story was truly special. Every book purchased, every kind word, and every person who stopped by our booth meant more than you know.
The trucking community showed up in a big way, and we’re so grateful to have been a small part of such an amazing event.
If you missed NorCal Spring Fling—or didn’t get a chance to grab a copy—you can still find my book on Amazon! 📚🚧

Thank you for making this event one that I’ll be talking about for a long time.
Somewhere along the way we were taught that "rich" meant busy schedules, expensive things, and never slowing down.
But the older I get, the more I realize real wealth looks a lot like this:
Bare feet in the garden.
Coffee getting cold in your hand.
Laundry dancing in the breeze.
Kids laughing somewhere nearby.
And a heart so full you lose track of time.
That's the kind of rich I'm chasing.
Comment below what you’re chasing? 👇🏻
Most kids spend Saturdays at the park...
mine spent it watching a haul truck get loaded with massive rip rap.
Dust in the air.
Engines rumbling.
An excavator swinging rock after rock into a haul truck like it's nothing.
And my boys?
Completely locked in.
No screens.
No toys.
Just real life, real work... and wide eyes taking it all in.
There's something about seeing how things are built-the dirt, the grit, the teamwork-that sticks with them in a different way.
These are the moments I don't want to rush past.
The ones that remind me why I wrote Big Truck and His Dirty Dump in the first place.
Because for them... this isn't just a Saturday.
It's everything. 🪨🚧💪🏻
Some events come and go… and some leave a lasting impression.
I’m still so grateful for the incredible event hosted by Parker & Honey Landscape and Design and Loucks Landscaping Supply. It was such a special day watching families come together, kids climb into equipment, explore, play, and see firsthand how the materials we use every day are moved from one place to the next by these incredible heavy haulers and hardworking men and women behind the wheel.
As an author, those are the moments you dream about—seeing the excitement on children’s faces as the pages of Big Truck and His Dirty Dump come to life right in front of them.
A huge thank you to Blake for capturing these memories. Every time I look back at the photos and videos, I’m reminded why I keep telling everyone about this event. The thought, effort, and heart that went into creating such a meaningful experience for local families did not go unnoticed.
Thank you for investing in our community, supporting local businesses and authors, and giving kids a chance to learn where rock, soil, bark, and other materials come from—and how they make their journey from the quarry to jobsites and homes throughout our community.
It was truly one for the books. ❤️🚛📚
And speaking of books—if you missed the event and want to get your hands on a copy of Big Truck and His Dirty Dump, head on over to Amazon! Link in the comments. 👇

Not all heroes wear capes... some haul dirt all day and still shine like a mirror.
Huge shoutout to Orozco Polishing Inc. for absolutely transforming my dad's truck. The attention to detail, craftsmanship, and pride they put into their work truly speaks for itself.
This isn't just a truck to our family - it's part of the story behind my children's book Big Truck and His Dirty Dump.
Seeing it polished up like this makes it feel even more full circle.
If you need aluminum polishing, stainless polishing, restoration work, or specialty polishing done right... these are your people.
And YES — you can see this real truck in person at Nor Cal Spring Fling May 29-30!
Come grab a signed copy of Big Truck and His Dirty Dump on Amazon or at the event!
Support local. Support hardworking families. Support excellence.

THIS IS YOUR REMINDER- don’t rush this season.
They don’t stay little...
even when it feels like they always will.
The mess.
The noise.
The constant “Mom. Mom. MOM!”
It’s a lot.
But one day...
The trucks will sit still.
The yard will be quiet.
And you’ll wish you could hear it all again.
So today...
I’m choosing to sit in the dirt a little longer.
💙
There's something wild about the moment they let go of the training wheels.
Not because they're suddenly riding a bike...
But because you realize they're learning how to trust themselves.
The wobbles.
The panic.
The "don't let go yet!"
The running beside them praying they don't eat pavement.
And then suddenly-
they're flying down the street with the biggest smile you've ever seen while you stand there wondering how they got so big so fast.
Parenting feels a lot like teaching a kid to ride a bike: holding on tight...
knowing eventually you have to let go... and cheering like crazy when they discover they were capable all along.
One day they need your hand on the seat.
The next day they're gone before you can even keep up.
Soak it in, tired parents.
These are the moments they'll remember forever.
