It might seem funny that you will spend more on the cable and software than you did the radio. But RT Systems delivers a robust package and makes it easier to program your radio than by hand. Once you have RT Systems for different radios that you might have, it is easy to copy/paste frequencies back and forth.

The Redding W5YI Volunteer Examiner Group will be hosting a ham radio test session Saturday April 10th 8am at Bentronics 141 Locust Street Redding, CA 96001.
We now do electronic testing with tablets. A HamStudy.org account is required. From there you can register for our test session. Licenses are issued faster since we do not have to mail or scan in test session paperwork anymore, you may receive your license the next business/processing day at 9:30am. That means when you pass your test on a Saturday you should have your license on Monday morning at about 9:30am.
RSVP is required call Bill at 530-246-2227. Testing is $14 and bring your ID.

The GP-9 is the highest gain, dualband fixed station antenna available from COMET. If you desire the absolute maximum coverage area, this is the antenna to choose. The radiation pattern is directed to the horizon omni-directionally around the antenna. However, keep in mind that a high-gain antenna pattern has narrow elevation angle.
In mountainous areas the pattern may not reach valley floors or mountain tops. If you need to cover areas around the antenna that are a few thousand feet above or below the antenna elevation, the GP-6 may be a better choice due to the wider radiation angle of a lower gain antenna.
