It’s been a wild journey since January, and race day is officially on the horizon. The physical and mental commitment has been more than I realized it would be, especially starting with basically no baseline. 🫠

I might not be the fastest one in the room, but I literally started from the bottom and dedicated 8 months, 6 days a week, to giving this race my best shot. I’ve watched my times improve, my body get stronger, and somewhere along the way, found a better version of myself in all of it.

I came into this with zero background except a little swimming and sprint running as a kid, and I couldn’t tell you the last time I had actually done either. In the beginning, my heart rate would shoot to 180 with very little effort. Fast forward 8 months, and I can run more miles than I ever thought possible, keep my heart rate more manageable, swim over a mile in a lake I was once afraid of, and bike over 50 miles without stopping.

God is good.

It’s been a gift and a challenge to put myself to this test. Training can be lonely, and so much of it has been learning to show up when nobody is watching and trust that those tiny improvements will eventually stack into something bigger.

I have never worked so hard to gain 3 MPH on a bike or cut over 3 minutes off my running pace. 😂 Life is funny with the things you say yes to, and I think crossing this finish line will be one of the coolest things I’ve ever accomplished for myself because of how far outside my comfort zone it pushed me.

And maybe that’s my biggest takeaway from all of this. You don’t have to be the fastest or the most naturally talented person in the room. Sometimes you just have to decide you’re going to do something and keep showing up long enough to see what you’re capable of.

12 years 🫶. What started out as a work crush and a girl that was determined to get you to fall in love with me has morphed into a lifetime together. 12 years of marriage and it’s been mix seasons of joy, going non-stop, growing together, healing together, and fighting in the trenches together. We got battle scars that have made us stronger, we have practiced in sickness in health on repeat, we built a successful business from the ground up, we beat the odds, and we have continued to put in the work to be the best version of ourselves to each other.
Thanks for loving the boys and giving them the best life, dreaming big with me, putting up with allllllll my social media content ideas with a smile and a little of sass, continuing to try to convince me that Diet Coke is healthy, cheering me on to complete the NorCal Ironman 70.3 this year even though it’s been a sacrifice for us both, becoming a pro at making Mac and Cheese so I can have max intake on carbs after workouts, continue to making me laugh with your killer one liners, and just being my person.
