LIKE WE ALWAYS DO AT THIS TIME!

It's been another year and another collection of ups and downs, wins losses and discoveries. I've been focused on a lot of changes in life as of late. So I'm really thankful for traditions. They keep me grounded and remind me of what's important.

Can't wait to celebrate with all y'all! It's been a wild year we deserve it! I've got a bunch of new music and stories to share, and so do the homies (they're releasing an album!) and . Thanks as always to for keeping traditions alive.

I wrote and recorded this song on Friday (6/27) and shot and edited the video Saturday (6/29). I went to Fremont Peak on the recommendation of coworker (thanks Josselyn). I met Ramiro, who helped guide me in the right direction because I was not headed that way lol. He's a really nice dude. We had a great conversation, some of which begins this video. I asked him a question, and his answer DIRECTLY correlated to the first lyrics of this song which kind of blew my mind.

I've been having a lot of experiences like that lately, and I don't know what it is causing it, but I'm enjoying the happenings. Making things the way that I have been for these past couple months has been eye opening for me, to the point where how I used to move is starting to feel unfamiliar. I feel an urgent necessity to find the answers I'm looking for through this process.

I'm really excited about life right now, a lot of good is happening in my life that's still in its infant stages. But that also gives me anxiety, because this is that moment where I'll usually fall back on old habits. I don't wanna do that anymore. I really do want to make lasting CHANGE. Lasting IMPACT.

These songs I've been making have been showing me that its possible. So I wanted to give them to you, so that you know that too. These are all the songs from the past 8 weeks of writing, songs I made at too quick a speed to be dishonest or posture. The project is called RESET, and I'm using it creatively as just that. I'm recalibrating my mind for what's to come. And I hope you'll come along for the ride.

I made the beat for this song Wednesday (6/4) wrote and recorded it Thursday (6/5) and shot and edited this video Saturday (6/7). A lot of my writing lately has circled around the idea of identity. Trying to distill the entirety of a feeling or a perspective in a few minutes. Trying to present myself as wholly as possible in those minutes. And that inevitably begs the age old question of "who am I really?"

I have an idea, but its difficult to determine. I'm not quite sure how much of me is "me" and not just a learned behavior, or a specific context, or a familiar environment. Luckily, in my current situation, I have ample time and few obligations to keep me from diving deeper into that question. So this song is an exercise of sorts.

I'm finding that what I recognize as "me" is still deeply housed in years worth of fears and expectations. Wearing the idea and weight of what I am "supposed" to represent. Fearful that without this supposed protective identity, that I won't be accepted or understood. Thinking that will save me.

Who am I without that? And who are you, without YOUR armor?
