What if the work God has you doing today is preparing you for something you never expected?
That's a theme Simpson alumnus Todd Gorton ('96) has experienced throughout his career. His journey has included pastoral ministry, nonprofit leadership, broadcast media, and today leading Community Impact efforts for In-N-Out Burger, where he oversees community giving, volunteerism, and partnerships that serve communities across the western United States.
Reflecting on God's leading, Todd shares:
"The best way to think about 'what's next' is to hold two thoughts together in tension. First, 'what's now' and second, 'what could be.' We embrace today with gratitude while trusting God to direct our steps into tomorrow."
On Tuesday, June 30, Todd will join fellow Simpson alumnus Robert Kovacs ('16) for our next Next Steps: Ministry & Calling conversation.
If you're navigating questions of calling, transition, leadership, or what God may have next, we'd love to have you join us.

Remembering Dr. Grant
It is with deep appreciation for a life well lived that we share the passing of Dr. James Grant, Simpson’s longest-serving president.
For many of our alumni, Dr. Grant was more than a leader. He was your president, a steady and faithful presence during your time at Simpson. His love for this place, his care for students, and his commitment to Christ-centered education shaped the lives of so many and helped guide the university for years to come.
We give thanks for his life, his leadership, and the lasting impact he has made on our community.
Share a memory with the family:
We invite you to write a brief note or memory for Dr. Grant’s family in this digital memory book:https://forms.office.com/r/vj0e0DKf2F

The learning didn’t stop when you graduated.
We’re continuing to host conversations on faith, vocation, and life, including an upcoming event with Christian author John Coleman on building a financial life with purpose.
If you’re nearby, come sit in, reconnect, and be part of what’s still happening at Simpson.

Choir has long been a meaningful part of the Simpson experience.
For many alumni, it was a place where friendships were formed, gifts were developed, and something deeper took shape through music shared together.
That tradition continues.
Join us for Simpson University’s Spring Concert: Celebrating 250 Years of American Music on Friday, April 10 at 7:00 PM in the Grant Student Center (Gym).
The evening will feature performances by the Chorale, Jazz Band, and Symphonic Choir, along with special guest appearances by the Redding Bell Peppers handbell choir. The program includes a vibrant mix of patriotic favorites, works by American composers, and selections that reflect the story and spirit of our nation.
Whether you’re reconnecting with a meaningful part of your own Simpson experience or simply enjoying an evening of music, we would be glad to have you with us.
General Admission: $12

I loved seeing the opening moments of this 5-minute update from Alliance President Jonathan Schaeffer, especially the footage captured this past week here at Simpson. You’ll spot familiar spaces, professors, and students, and it’s a reminder the mission we experienced as students is still shaping lives today.
There’s a verse hanging on my wall at Simpson that continually reframes why I do what I do:
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Matthew 9:37–38)
For many of us, words like these helped shape who we became. God used Simpson as part of our story, forming our calling, friendships, faith, and direction.
Part of my role now is helping re-engage all of you as alumni because the story didn’t end at graduation. We are still inviting others into it. The same harvest Jesus spoke about remains today, and Simpson continues to be a place where workers are prepared and sent.
Take a few minutes to watch. You may recognize more than you expect.
