As we come to the 4th week of focusing on learning music by ear, here are Four Tips for Learning Music by Ear! You can do this!

It’s time for a tune up! But this time it’s not for the guitar, it’s for the musician!

This past week started our next Lesson Focus, the Core Skill of Learning Music by Ear.

This core skill focuses on the main instrument a musician needs to work on, themselves!

Students will experience listening, internalizing, feeling, recognizing and ultimately playing the music they hear.

The skill of learning to connect your ear to your instrument helps to remove any blocks on your way to becoming a more confident, intuitive and creative musician!

Do you know where the notes are on your fretboard? Can you find them without hesitation? If not, you’re limiting your playing. An often overlooked area, knowing where your notes are, is integral to just about everything in playing your instrument. Find chords/scales, problem solve technical issues and expand your creativity. If you want freedom on the fretboard, knowing your notes is where it’s at.

This month starts the rolling out of the curriculum for the year. The first topics we will look at in the coming months will be what I call the 5 Core Skills. These are the skills that I feel are most essential to get you playing your best and reaching your goals.

The first Core Skill starts with Fretboard notes!

Students are currently preparing for the 2025 Winter Recital! I am looking forward to it. There is going to be some amazing performances you don’t wanna miss!
