Redding sales tax for public safety? Ask yourself what has changed in the city since the tax measures were voted down recently? Does city staff still recommend large expenditures like land purchases? Does non public safety personnel continue to receive exorbitant raises? Has the city made strides in reducing spending? Has the city addressed unfunded pension liabilities? Do you trust that the non safety deteriorating city departments will not receive any of these funds? What has the city done to bring new tax paying businesses to the city? Do you trust current elected officials to do what they promise with this general fund money? Including sharing funds with the county for jail space knowing there are no legal requirements for general fund money. What is your recourse if promises are broken if any? Are we ready to gamble?
