TFS Guide Travis Ortiz Travis Ortiz had a great day on the Lower Sac upper river opener yesterday! Travis said it was “the best it’s been in years.”

We are excited that the upper section of the Lower Sac will open up on Saturday! The closure is to protect the endangered Winter Run Chinooks, and this year we have a bumper crop! This is good news, but the great news is there are a TON of big ‘bows behind them eating eggs while they are digging their redds. These fish haven’t been fished over for months, it will be wild!

The evenings have been super as well. We have openings in the first week of August, give us a call or hit the link in bio to book a day on the water.



Our Advanced FishCamp attendees capped their week off with a float on the Lower Sacramento River. These kids learn so much in camp - they are all sticks! Fishing was good and they roped a bunch of Lower Sac hogs!  Not to mention the epic water battles!

A huge thanks to our guides and counselors for mentoring the next generation of fly anglers and river stewards.

We have a last minute opening for 2 rods at Lava Creek Lodge the week of June 22 - 29, 2026. This is an incredible week with dime bright kings pouring into the system!

Space in this week virtually never comes open as the same guests return annually, so it is a remarkable opportunity to experience one of the last great fly rod king fisheries in Alaska. The opening is for one year (2026) only, as the guests who have been coming in this week for years will keep their spots for 2027.
