Nash Ranch is getting some new signs for their pumpkin displays this year! 🎃😅

🎃 ONE OF SHASTA COUNTY’S FAVORITE FALL TRADITIONS IS BACK...

Nash Ranch Pumpkin Patch officially opens for the 2026 season TODAY, Monday, September 28th.

And if you’ve never been, there’s quite a bit more to do than just pick out a pumpkin.

Nash Ranch has been growing pumpkins for more than three decades, and this year visitors can once again walk through a 20-acre pumpkin patch featuring more than 30 varieties of pumpkins, winter squash and gourds.

But that's just the beginning...

🛝 Air pillow, obstacle bounce house & slide
🌽 Mini corn maze
🌾 Straw-bale maze

🍂 Food, craft vendors and additional activities take place on the weekends.

And there is NO general admission charge to enter the pumpkin patch.

Some individual attractions do have a charge.

🌽 Corn Maze is $8 per person and did I mention it is huge...

Hidden throughout the maze are 13 letters. Find them all, unscramble the message and see if you can solve it.

🚂 Train Rides are $4 per person, with children 2 and younger riding at no charge

🐐 Petting Zoo is $3 per person, with proceeds benefiting 4-H

🛝 Air Pillow/Obstacle Bounce House & Slide is $4 per child, weather permitting

🌽 Mini Corn Maze is $1 per child

🌾 Straw-Bale Maze is No charge

🛝 Little-Kids Play Area is No charge.

Just keep in mind that some attractions and vendors operate primarily on weekends, and certain activities may depend on the weather.

Pumpkins and squash are sold by the pound, so you can head out into the patch and search for the one you want to take home.

📅 The 2026 season runs from September 28th through November 1st.

🎃 WEEKENDS IN OCTOBER...
That's when Nash Ranch's Pumpkin Patch Festival kicks things up another notch with additional attractions, food booths, craft vendors and activities.

Most of the independent vendors and some of the additional attractions are available on weekends.

🚗 On Saturdays and Sundays, there is a suggested $5 donation per vehicle for parking, with the money benefiting the organization operating the parking fundraiser that weekend.

👻 AND WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN...
Friday and Saturday nights bring another side of Nash Ranch.

The corn maze stays open until 11 PM, including a haunted maze, and the ranch is also home to the Dreams of Darkness haunted house.

🚜 COMING OCTOBER 10th & 11th...
The NorCal Antique Tractor & Engine Club Annual Fall Show and Tractor Pulls are also scheduled to take place at Nash Ranch.

And Nash Ranch has been doing this for a LONG time.

The Nash family planted its first pumpkin crop back in 1991.

What started as a quarter-acre experiment eventually grew into the fall tradition people know today.

The corn maze was added in 1998, followed by the first haunted house in 2006.

And the history of the ranch itself goes back even further, with the property tracing its roots to land patents granted to Civil War Union Army veterans in 1865.

And we're open! That's 73 years, 4 generations and 36 pumpkin patches.

Normally, I wait until about October 22nd or so to have everything set up so I'm trying this new thing where we have things ready to sell the day we open.

I've already sent out one pumpkin [well in excess of 150 lbs, censored for guessing contest] so that's exciting. I haven't seen pumpkins in the commercial field that big in a long while.

The other shot is an overview of the pumpkin patch operation. Between the main patch, the specialty field and the corn maze, were up to almost 35 acres of just pumpkin patch.

Holy giant pumpkins! I grew hundreds of these guys, some that are substantially larger, too. I haven't figured out how to sell them yet, as they're in my remote field with the double varieties that we normally harvest and bin up. I'm dreading the thought of loading them up one per pallet and using the tractor to haul them out to the pumpkin patch.

Well it's been one heck of a trial - to put it in socially acceptable terms - but the vast majority of the structural upgrades to the haunted house are now complete. We poured 30 yards of concrete today and we'll finish welding up the angle bracing tomorrow. I never want to hand dig another hole for rebar in my life.

You just never know when you'll get a few feet of snow in October while there's a massive hurricane force wind happening. While we somehow stay open for business, I guess. But now you can rest assured that this thing meets the same codes as a stadium or something. For safety.

Huge thanks to all the sponsors for this year's mud run. I have to say that I thought it was a massive success but my job is to blast people with a fire hose so it's always a success to me.

The Active 20-30 Club of Redding #143 hasn't given me final attendance numbers yet, but I know it was more than double last year's event. At that rate the entire human population will be here in like 10 more years.

Nor Cal Tractor and Stimpel-Whibelhaus were late to the party, so they didn't get on the banner, but they both donated water trucks. I think that might make them the two most important sponsors at a mud run.
