Is this the same group that was running before?
No, this is a new group with new leaders. DM Chad has run a campaign before and has lots of
resources with which to create game experiences with.
Do I need to bring anything?
If it’s helpful, and you already have them, bringing a copy of your players guide would be good,
as well as your own dice and mini if you like, but we will have all the resources you need,
including the reference manuals, character minis, character sheets, and lot and lots of dice.
There’s no need to go out and buy a bunch of stuff unless you want to. We’ve got you covered.
Also, players are encouraged to bring snacks to share, but that is not required.
What version are we using?
For now we are sticking with D&D 5th edition, 2014 version. Those are the resources we have. If
we eventually transition to 2024 it will be gradually.
Is this an ongoing campaign or one-shots?
At first, until we see if a regular group coheres, we will be starting out with individual
adventures that the same characters can progress through (though if you want to roll up a new
character every time you are welcome to do so. Eventually, if we have a regular core of gamers,
we can launch into a larger campaign, which will still be flexible enough to allow new players to
join if they want to. Our goal is that anyone can join at any time.
Are there any character types that are off limits?
No! Anything covered in 5E or the supplements is allowed. You can also do multi-class or other
types of characters, however, the responsibility is on the player to know how it works so we’re
not constantly trying to figure it out mid-game. New players are highly encouraged to stick to
well-known Player Character Classes and Races, as those are genuinely easier to understand
and there are clear rules for them.
What can I expect at the first session?
We will spend a little bit of time on session 0, establishing how the group will run and assessing
what kind of adventures the group wants to encounter, and if anyone needs help rolling up
their characters we can do that. We plan to spend the second half of the session getting started
on our first adventure.

One again we want to stress that anyone is welcome! Experienced players as well as newbies.
And though this group is LGBTQ-focused, allies are welcome as well. Also this is now and will
always remain a free activity sponsored by NorCal OutReach!
