The Passing of the Roses- one of our favorite parts of graduation.
Tonightβs 'Passing of the Roses' ceremony was a beautiful reminder of the journey weβve shared. Our graduates took a moment during the ceremony to present two, vibrant roses to the family members, teachers, and mentors who supported them, loved them, and helped them bloom into the incredible individuals they are today. As these roses symbolize, their accomplishments are a testament to the community that nurtured them.
To the Class of 2026:
Congratulations! We couldnβt be prouder. ππΉ

Mariah, you are a strong, young voice and you will go on to do great things! We are proud of you for all of your hard work and cannot wait to see you in that cap and gown in June! ππ
Families, teachers, and school staff celebrated two remarkable students at tonight's Shasta County Board of Education meeting. Mariah Ables and Noah McCrae were honored through the Every Student Succeeding program. Mariah, a junior at Shasta County Independent Study, is a model of self-determination and academic focus. She has dedicated herself to her education with professional rigor, earning nearly double the required credits in a single semester. Mariah has become a fierce advocate for her own success, rediscovering her passion for art and drawing while maintaining a clear vision for her future.
Noah, a sixth-grader Excel Academy, has made exceptional growth in his in-class engagement this year - a remarkable display of personal resilience and determination. His hard work and the intentional, system-wide support of his team allowed him to embody the kind, empathetic student he is. He has learned self-management skills, including the wisdom to proactively walk away from instigating peers, which allowed him to stay focused on his personal goal of becoming a better student. His immense personal progress will have a positive impact on his future.
Congratulations to both of these fantastic students!
