Shasta County Independent Study offers flexible options for personalized/diverse learning to prepare students for college and career readiness. Our Beliefs
We believe that all students in our community school will graduate from high school prepared to obtain a high-skilled, high wage career. We believe that students need to be prepared for real world occupations and careers, including having the opportunity to earn certifications and college credits while in high school. We believe that students in an alternative program benefit from individualized instruction that allows for a program designed for their individual needs and one-on-one or small group interaction with an instructor. We believe that making learning relevant to students will results in greater engagement in the educational process. We believe that using instructional technology to provide access to course materials enhances student’s ability to be self-directed and to assume responsibility for their progress towards graduation.

Redding firefighters will be stopping by to share stories with our young readers. After Storytime, children will get the chance to head outside, see a fire truck up close, and learn about some of the equipment firefighters use!

High school students: Your voice matters. Your ideas matter. Your leadership matters. The Shasta County Board of Education is launching its very first Student Advisory Board, and we're looking for students from across Shasta County to help shape conversations about the issues that matter most to you.
Represent your school, collaborate with peers from throughout the county, and gain leadership skills through this student-led group. Students from comprehensive, charter, alternative, private, and homeschool programs are encouraged to apply.

We are proudly participating in Whiskeytown’s Adopt-A-Swim Beach clean-up program, and we invite you to join us in showing our beloved recreation park some TLC. We have committed to at least one morning during each of the summer months to roll up our sleeves, put on some gloves and clean up our adopted swim beach. We hope you’ll join us in our efforts to provide safe clean beaches for summer recreating. Donuts may be involved!

The Passing of the Roses- one of our favorite parts of graduation.
Tonight’s 'Passing of the Roses' ceremony was a beautiful reminder of the journey we’ve shared. Our graduates took a moment during the ceremony to present two, vibrant roses to the family members, teachers, and mentors who supported them, loved them, and helped them bloom into the incredible individuals they are today. As these roses symbolize, their accomplishments are a testament to the community that nurtured them.
