Firmware updates are strictly designed to lockout any refilled version of a cartridge. They are not designed to make your printer work better. Some printers like HP come from the manufacture to automatically do updates through Wi-Fi. Others like brother, Epson and Canon will let you know that there is a firmware update available. Please DO NOT do the updates as they will lock out the use of any cartridge that is not purchased directly from them. If you use an HP printer, please see me for very simple instructions on how to turn off the automatic updates. Being diligent about following these instructions will ensure that you can continue to save a lot of $$$.
