106 years of service. Three incredible women. One lasting legacy.

On July 23rd, we had the honor of recognizing three truly remarkable women, the original OGs of the Shasta County Juvenile Justice Commission.
Together, Susan, Yvonne, and Barbara have dedicated an incredible 106 years of service to supporting youth, families, and the juvenile justice system in Shasta County.

Susan Duncan– 30 years, 4 months
Yvonne Tate – 41 years, 2 months
Barbara Van D**e – 34 years, 6 months

Their unwavering commitment, compassion, and countless hours of volunteer service have helped shape the Juvenile Justice Commission and made a lasting impact on our community. Chief Neal noted “It has been a true privilege to work alongside these amazing women over the years.” On behalf of the Shasta County Probation Department and the Juvenile Justice Commission, thank you for your extraordinary service, your dedication, and the difference you've made for generations of youth. Your legacy will continue to inspire us for years to come.

The GROW Program currently has an abundant harvest of fresh, locally grown cucumbers, zucchini, beets, radishes, fresh herbs and tomatoes.

We will have a farmstand popup on Wednesday, July 29 from 9 am - 11 am (or until sold out) in front of the JRF at 2684 Radio Lane, Redding.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the graduation of Kenny Edwards, Chris Foreman, Daniel Ransom from the Addicted Offender Program (AOP)!

Completion of this program represents months of hard work, accountability, and a profound commitment to personal growth. These graduates have faced significant challenges head-on, choosing a path of recovery and resilience that has been anything but easy.

Transitioning back into the community with new tools and a fresh perspective is a monumental achievement. We celebrate your success today and look forward to the positive impact you will continue to make! 🎉👏

In celebration of Probation Services Week, we’ll be spotlighting one member of our staff from each division throughout the week. Today’s spotlight is Deputy Probation Officer III Jamie LaRue.

Jamie began her career with the Shasta County Probation Department in 2014 as a Juvenile Detention Officer and was promoted to Deputy Probation Officer in 2016. Throughout her career, she has served in General Supervision, the Day Reporting Center, High Risk Transition, Post Release Community Supervision, and Mandatory Supervision. In July 2022, Jamie was promoted to Deputy Probation Officer III. Most recently, she transferred to the Domestic Violence caseload within the Specialized Supervision Unit.

From record-setting softball player and professional athlete to dedicated DPO, wife, mother, reader, and avid crocheter, Jamie’s story is one of talent, determination, and continued growth. We are grateful to have her on the probation team.

In celebration of Probation Services Week, we’ll be spotlighting one member of our staff from each division throughout the week. Today’s spotlight is Deputy Probation Officer II Gabriella "Red" Redelsperger.

Starting as an extra-help JDO in 2022, Red quickly proved her dependability and talent for de-escalating youth in crisis. By 2024, she was promoted to Deputy Probation Officer, bringing her hands-on facility experience to community supervision.

Now managing the IFWP caseload, Red excels in collaborating with courts, counselors, and community partners to support positive, lasting change for youth and families. Her fairness, compassion, and strong work ethic make her a true asset to the Juvenile Division!
