Interactive film screenings featuring facilitated dialogue and forum theater

Understanding the power of film goes beyond appreciating its artistic merit or entertainment value. Film has the potential to serve as a reflection of society, mirroring its triumphs, struggles, and complexities. However, it can also be a tool wielded skillfully to shape social values and beliefs. This dual nature of film – as a mirror and a molder – underscores the need for audiences to be more than just passive spectators. We must be critically engaged, questioning the narratives we consume and discerning their underlying intentions.

In an era where AI influences our media landscape, critical engagement is more crucial than ever. It empowers us to distinguish between meaningful narratives and manipulative ones, allowing us to make informed decisions. Such understanding is essential in fostering a media-literate society capable of tackling our biggest challenges. So, the next time you watch a film, remember to engage critically and question the narratives presented.

Scientific research has shown that effective communication is crucial for success in life, whether it's in personal relationships, the workplace, or within a community. According to a study by Towers Watson, organizations with effective communication practices are 50% more likely to have lower voluntary turnover rates and higher levels of employee engagement and financial performance. By practicing conversations and learning communication and feedback tools, we can become better communicators not just in the workplace but also collaborate more effectively within our communities.

Great films start great conversations. And those conversations can happen right in the theater. Project My Voice is a new venture that helps filmmakers go beyond the traditional Q&A and get audiences talking to each other. Using a unique blend of facilitated dialogue and theater exercises, all of which take place from the comfort of your seat, our audiences engage big questions together and discover practical tools for answering those questions.

We are currently developing our pilot in collaboration with Joshua Seftel, Director of the Academy-Award nominated film "Stranger At the Gate" -- a film which raises critical questions about how we define "community" and where we go to find it.
