GROWTH MINDSET: ALWAYS MOVING FORWARD

Every mentoring year, Accelerating Men, Inc. introduces a yearly theme that provides direction and encouragement for our mentors, mentees, and families.

This year, Accelerating Men is embracing “Growth Mindset” as our 2026–2027 theme.

During our New & Returning Members Orientation, our mentees participated in a brief breakout discussion focused on understanding the difference between a Fixed Mindset and a Growth Mindset.

Our mentors led an interactive workshop designed to help young men recognize that challenges, mistakes, setbacks, and difficult experiences can become opportunities to learn, develop, and grow.

The goal is to help our young men understand:

-Fixed Mindset: “I can’t do this.”
-Growth Mindset: “I can’t do this yet.”

A Growth Mindset encourages our young men to believe that their abilities can develop through effort, learning, perseverance, reflection, and support.

Throughout this mentoring year, we will continue challenging our young men to examine how they think, respond to challenges, and approach their personal, academic, social, and career goals.

We don’t just want our young men to grow older—we want them to grow wiser, stronger, and more confident in who they are becoming.

Today, Accelerating Men, Inc. conducted another successful New & Returning Members Orientation!

We are excited about another mentoring year focused on educating, training, empowering, and cultivating young men of color throughout Wake County as they discover, develop, and walk confidently in their God-given identity and purpose.

Our commitment remains strong: creating an environment where young men can grow, build positive relationships, develop leadership skills, and understand that their future is filled with purpose and possibilities.

We are grateful for our dedicated mentors, volunteers, parents, and community partners who continue to pour into the lives of our young men.

This partnership will help expose our young men to the latest technology, digital resources, innovation, and career opportunities while encouraging them to explore how technology can shape their future.

We believe that technology inclusion is opportunity inclusion. By providing our young men with access, exposure, mentorship, and hands-on experiences, we are helping prepare them to become tomorrow’s innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders.

Every year, Accelerating Men, Inc. honors a respected male leader in the community who exemplifies strong leadership, character, integrity, and a genuine commitment to supporting and empowering young men and youth.

The Golden Man Award recognizes a man who consistently leads by example, invests in the lives of others, and demonstrates a lasting dedication to helping young people reach their full potential.

Last year, we were honored to select Terry David as our Golden Man Award recipient. His continued support, leadership, and commitment to young men represent the very qualities this award was created to celebrate.

Through the Golden Man Award, Accelerating Men celebrates men who are not only leaders in their communities, but also mentors, role models, advocates, and champions for the next generation.
