Representatives from the North Carolina Broadband Cooperatives recently traveled to Washington, D.C. to connect with industry leaders, gain insight on policies shaping rural broadband, and to share perspectives on expanding connectivity with government officials.

We’re proud to see our CarolinaLink members playing an active role in shaping the future of rural broadband and strengthening the communities they serve.

Congratulations to the five students from CarolinaLink member companies who were awarded scholarships through the Foundation for Rural Service!

The FRS has awarded over $1 million in scholarships since its inception; empowering rural students throughout the country to advance their communities with invaluable skill sets and experiences.

CarolinaLink members SkyLine SkyBest, Randolph Communications and Surry Communications are making an impact right in their local schools. From career fairs to STEM nights, each co-op is making a big difference in their local communities and supporting local youth. We’re proud to see CarolinaLink Members giving back in such meaningful ways!

Congratulations to FOCUS Broadband, Zirrus , RiverStreet Networks , and Star Communications on being awarded Stop-Gap Solutions program funding by the NCDIT Division of Broadband and Digital Equity! With these funds, high-speed internet access will be expanded to nearly 600 addresses in rural areas of Duplin, Pender, Alexander, Forsyth, Iredell, Rowan, Yadkin, Bladen, Sampson, Camden, Currituck, Stokes and Wilkes counties.

Surry Communications CEO Richie Parker was recently appointed President of the North Carolina 811 (NC811) Board of Directors! NC811 plays a critical role in protecting underground infrastructure and keeping broadband projects moving safely, and we’re proud to see one of our CarolinaLink members step into a leadership role. Our CarolinaLink member cooperatives put the principle of Concern for Community into action every day. From supporting local events to funding a wide range of giving programs, they are deeply involved in the communities they serve, helping ensure residents have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

October is National Co-op Month! CarolinaLink’s member cooperatives embody the spirit of cooperation among cooperatives by working together to expand rural broadband access across North Carolina.

They support one another, stepping in to help when needed, and collaborate to advocate for policies that work to close the digital divide, ensuring every community has access to reliable, high-speed internet.
