🎥 A little behind-the-scenes look at what’s happening in Quitman!

We stopped by Rockin S & S Grill today as Chowdown Nation was in town visiting one of Quitman’s local favorites!

Hosts Ashley Dawn and videographer Nick Montag were here filming, giving Rockin S & S Grill and Quitman an opportunity to be featured in an upcoming episode.

Chowdown Nation helps shine a light on independent restaurants and the local food that brings people together, helping communities showcase the businesses that make them special.

We don’t have an air date just yet, but Rockin S & S Grill will be showing the episode when it premieres!

We’re excited to see Quitman and one of our local businesses get this kind of exposure. Stay tuned! 🎥

✈️ It was a grand morning at the Wood County Airport!

This morning, representatives from across Wood County gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of Steck Aviation, an exciting project that will expand aviation-related services and private business activity at the Wood County Airport.

Steck Aviation will establish a Jet/Aircraft Center and Fixed-Base Operation (FBO) at the airport, operating from a new facility on the airport property. The project represents an important investment in the airport and has the potential to create new opportunities for aviation, business and economic development throughout our region.

This milestone is a great example of what can happen when communities and leaders work together. The City of Mineola, Texas, Wood County, City of Quitman, Texas, Quitman Development Corporation, and other community partners worked alongside Brian Steck, founder of Steck Aviation, to help make today's groundbreaking possible.

When Wood County communities come together with a shared vision for growth, exciting things happen. We are proud to be part of that collaboration and look forward to seeing Steck Aviation take shape at the Wood County Airport.

Construction is expected to be completed by December 31, 2027.

Congratulations to Brian Steck and the entire Steck Aviation team on this exciting milestone! We can't wait to watch this project take flight. ✈️

🎨 Quitman is proud to be part of Wood County Walls 2026 Texas Street Art Festival!

Our contribution to this year’s festival will feature Miami artist Luis Valle, who will create a tribute to the flora and fauna of Wood County.

The public art will be created across all four walls of the restrooms at Gov. Jim Hogg City Park in Quitman.

Each wall will highlight iconic plants and animals common to Wood County, including the Eastern Bluebird, Red-tailed Hawk, White-tailed Deer, Bobcat and, of course, if it’s Quitman, there has to be a Dogwood.

Luis will bring his internationally recognized signature style of concentric dots, outlining compelling visual images. He has also blended the natural tones of Wood County with the vibrant splashes of color inspired by his Miami home.

Luis will begin work on the murals September 20 with the project expected to be completed in about a week. A dedication of the artwork is planned for September 26, as part of the celebration of three new murals being created across Wood County in Quitman, Winnsboro and Mineola.

The Quitman project is supported by the Quitman Development Corporation, Love Wood County, Upper Sabine Valley Solid Waste and Flint & Steel Coalition.

We can’t wait to watch this incredible piece of public art come to life in Quitman! 🎨❤️
