Heroes Ranch

It was a memorable night!

~Congratulations to the 2026 Patriot Defender of the American Dream Award honorees, Heroes Ranch! Their story is one worth celebrating—below are the tribute remarks presented in their honor.

“Our first award recipient tonight represents gratitude expressed in one of its most meaningful forms—by honoring and serving those who have devoted themselves to the service and protection of others.

“In a world where the sacrifices of our heroes can never truly be repaid, this organization has created a place where injured, ailing, wounded, and disabled veterans, first responders, and their families can find dignity, fellowship, healing, and hope. It is a place that honors not only what our heroes have sacrificed, but also who they are and the lives, families, and dreams they continue to carry forward.

“Nestled in the heart of Wood County stands Heroes Ranch—a place where service is expressed through compassion and meaningful opportunity. Founded by Freeman and Susan Sawyer, Heroes Ranch was built on the deeply held belief that simply saying “thank you” to our heroes was not enough. Their sacrifices deserve more than words; they deserve a place where they and their families are valued, supported, and given the opportunity to experience the freedom they worked so hard to protect.

“Since its establishment in 2020, Heroes Ranch has welcomed military veterans, law enforcement officers, firefighters, first responders, Gold Star Families, and special needs families from across the nation. Through accessible outdoor adventures, specialized equipment, and adaptive hunting and fishing opportunities, the ranch enables families to reconnect, make memories, and live out the American Dream in an environment created especially for them.

“At Heroes Ranch, accessibility is not an afterthought; it is part of the mission. Every detail reflects a commitment to meeting heroes where they are and helping them participate fully in the experiences so many of us may take for granted.

“More than a retreat, Heroes Ranch is a living expression of honor. It is a reminder that true patriotism is found not only in remembering sacrifice, but also in caring for those who have made it.

“Tonight, we recognize a heartfelt vision that has become a lasting blessing to countless families. With tremendous gratitude and admiration, we present the 2026 PATRIOT DEFENDER OF THE AMERICAN DREAM AWARD to a haven of hope and healing for our most courageous patriots—HEROES RANCH.”

What an incredible day at the 2026 Heroes Ranch Charity Golf Tournament!

We cannot say thank you enough to everyone who came out and made this year’s tournament such an amazing success.

To every golfer who played, every volunteer who gave their time, every person who donated, and every sponsor who generously stepped up to support the mission of Heroes Ranch, thank you.

Your support allows us to continue creating opportunities for our nation’s veterans, first responders, and their families to experience the outdoors, build lasting camaraderie, and know that their service and sacrifice are never forgotten.

A very special thank you to Jacob Schick for joining us as our guest speaker. Jacob, you absolutely knocked it out of the park. Your story, your heart, your humor, and your passion for serving others made an already special day even more meaningful. We are incredibly grateful you chose to spend September 11 with the Heroes Ranch family.

The turnout was incredible. The fellowship was even better. And none of it would have been possible without all of you.
