Class of 2020 Social Work Spotlight

Robert Briley Seiter

Practicum: The Home for Little Wanders, Family Resource Center. Briley provided support, resources, and referral to individuals and families in the Boston area.

Favorite class: Field Practicum

Class of 2020 Social Work Spotlight

Shylo Schuboth

Practicum: The Quincy Family Resource Center. Shylo engaged with clients seeking supports and resources, and co-facilitated various psycho-educational groups.

Favorite class: It's a tie between Generalist Practice with Individuals and Families, and Generalist Practice with Groups

Shylo plans to practice social work in a forensic setting (i.e. courts, prison).

"To me, being a social worker means a commitment to social justice and development, promoting principles and ideals that I am passionate about, and putting human rights into practice."

Rebecca Martell

Practicum: The Home for Little Wanders, Family Resource Center. Becka connected people of the Boston community with local and state resources and aid.

Favorite class: Special Topics in Social Work:Human Trafficking

Being a social work major has changes so much about me for the better. It is a career that requires seeing the good in someone, no matter who they are. It requires you to show up and help, no matter how you feel. It is a field of study that educates you in selflessness and love. I feel like being a social worker has helped me learn how to be a better person, and in turn has prepared me to be proficient in any future jobs that come my way."

Victoria Mitchell

Practicum: Bay State Coastal STARR (Short-Term Assessment and Rapid Reunification). Tori served in the residential program providing direct and groups services related to life skills, healthy boundaries, and adaptive coping skills to adolescents in DCF custody.

Favorite class: Generalist Practice with Individuals and Families

Tori plans to practice social work with survivors of trauma after graduate school.

Tonisha Johnson

Practicum: The Home for Little Wanders's Clinical and Family Support Unit. Toni served as an adoption search and reunification worker assisting adult adoptees with locating their biological parents and facilitating reunions.

Favorite Social Work Course: Generalist Practice with Groups

Toni plans to practice social work in the child welfare, family services, and/or homeless field after graduate school.
