Brown Data Science is dedicated to creating and supporting opportunities related to Data Science for the undergraduate community. We bring together students interested in Data Science and Machine Learning by hosting workshops and talks, and through competitions in which participants gain real-world experience analyzing data - often with access to unique and exclusive data sets.

Brown Data Science Team Application (2021) Join Brown Data Science Board!

Hello! We are looking for volunteers and hosts for the Datathon from February 22-23.

Volunteering for the datathon may consist of assisting with set up, kick-off, and check-ins, getting food deliveries, helping run workshops, transporting things to the venue, and event breakdowns.
***Each volunteer will be entered in a lottery to win an Amazon gift card of 20$!*** We will be picking 5 lucky winners.

Additionally, we are looking for people to host traveling participants who need a place to see. If you are able to host, please help us out! We will provide you with air mattresses as needed — you just need to have a room!
Each host who is assigned a participant will be entered in a lottery to win an Amazon gift card of 40$! We will be picking 6 lucky winners.

Brown Data Science is hosting an event with diiVe this Thursday, October 31, from 12-1 PM in CIT 368. Come to hear from a Brown alum about the organization she co-founded!

Elspeth Boynton, Brown alumna ’11, is coming to campus to share her journey from Brown to consulting multinational companies in Cape Town, South Africa. Currently, Elspeth also runs a summer abroad program for university students and recent graduates, offering courses in Management Consulting, Data Science and Blockchain Tech. Check diiVe out and come chat to her about her experiences from rural NGOs to Big 4 firms.

Since completing her undergraduate degree at Brown University and a Masters at the University of Cape Town, Elspeth has coordinated global student internships, driven sustainable solution initiatives for numerous NGOs (both in the USA and South Africa) and led community impact programs. She is passionate about transnational learning and cross-cultural experiences. Recently, she has been consulting for EY around digital transformation, leadership development, and purpose-led change, and has just finished designing a future-focussed curriculum for a leading university in South Africa. Elspeth co-founded diiVe, a learning organization based in Cape Town, that provides students with a unique, global experience that develops their digital, innovation and entrepreneurial capability, guides their direction, and builds their capacity, as leaders, to drive real impact in their future careers.
