Dear friends, as many of you know we have a home in Black Mountain, NC and as you are seeing in the news the entire region has been devastated by flooding, mudslides, power & communication outages, public water contamination, loss of roads, etc.
By the Grace of God our home has been spared. Thank you for all of your messages and prayers. We are truly grateful! Keep them coming for the communities of Western NC, East TN and SC.
I’m heading to Black Mountain tomorrow, following friends who are also traveling to their home in the area. I’ll be helping with the relief effort by delivering much needed supplies. Mark will come a few days behind me with another load of supplies. If you would like to donate tangible relief items please leave them on our front porch. Local friends you know where we live. 😊 If it’s here by tonight I’ll take it with me. If it’s here by Friday AM Mark will bring it in his load. Below is a quick list of items requested.

Have you ever wondered who the OG Airbnb guests were and why they opted to stay at someone's home they had no connection to? 😳 Meet Amol, Kat & Michael... the 1st Airbnb guests. The story is Brian and Joe (Airbnb founders) were struggling to pay rent in San Francisco and they wanted to attend a big design conference in town and so, they decided to rent sleeping space on the living room floor of their tiny apartment that they outfitted with 3 airbeds. "Stay at our Airbed & Breakfast" they said. Amol, Kat & Michael answered a local ad and made their plans to stay at Brian & Joe's place - they wanted to attend the design conference too & hotels were mostly sold out or extremely high priced. That was in 2007. Fifteen years later, Airbnb has welcomed over 1 billion guests in 220 countries and 100K cities.
And... what we've all learned (those of us who followed in Brian & Joe's footsteps) is that STRANGERS AREN'T SO STRANGE. They're FUN, interesting and beautiful! 💙✨
