We are a New Jersey foster care nonprofit 501(c)3 organization.

Our mission is to embrace, support, and advocate for children, youth, and families within the child welfare community. As a foster care nonprofit dedicated to embracing, supporting, and advocating for children, youth, and families, we’ve served New Jersey’s most vulnerable children for more than 50 years. In this time, we’ve seen the incredible, life-changing work moms and dads have made in shaping a better and brighter future for our foster, adoptive, and kinship children and youth.

On June 11, embrella attended the NJSFWC College District’s first meeting following new elections. Special State Project Chairwoman Kathy Marino (Shore District) joined embrella’s Director of Development, Michele Rodriguez, to present on the organization and partnership. Rowan University student and Youth Voice Council member, Khabir Matthews, shared his experience and impact, joined by his PACES Coach, Kylie Kunz.

As NJSFWC’s selected State Special Project for 2026–2028, we look forward to a meaningful two-year partnership and greatly appreciate their support with the upcoming back-to-school drive.

❤️Meet Virginie Ligot, a dedicated embrella Heart to Heart mentor who has had 7 years experience as a foster parent.

❤️Our mentors provide encouragement, guidance, and a listening ear—because they understand the unique challenges caregivers face and know how meaningful support can be.

❤️At embrella, we believe no caregiver should navigate this journey alone. Heart to Heart Mentors help make that possible.

Thank you M&T Bank for putting together 100 activity bags for kids in foster care across New Jersey 💙🎒🙌

These bags help keep children and youth engaged while they’re waiting for services or meeting a caregiver for the first time. They also make it easier to connect with service providers and bring a little comfort to what can be a stressful time.

We’re so grateful for the care and thought that went into every single bag ✨

In New Jersey, 65% of families are reunified after out-of-home placement.

These success stories are possble because of a team effort between the child's parents, their caseworkers, and the resource parents who have stepped in to provide temporary housing. Most times, resource care is being provided by kinship caregivers who are already close to the family.

During Reunification Month we celebrate the families who are doing the hard work to heal, and the resource parents and guardians who are crucial to keeping families safe, healthy, and connected.

Huge thank you to Rielle for supporting our Bag Project 💙🎒

Rielle, a junior at Northern Burlington High School, started “The Welcome Home Project” to collect donations and create care backpacks filled with essentials and comfort items for children in foster care.

She generously donated these backpacks to embrella, where they will be distributed through our Bag Project to help support children and youth in transition.

This project is especially meaningful to her as her family are resource parents and closely connected to the child welfare community.

We are so grateful for Rielle and everyone who helped make this happen 🫶🏾
