🚧 Construction of Prescott Fire Department's New Training Tower is Underway! 🚧

After years of planning and anticipation, Prescott Fire Department is proud to see construction begin on a modern, state-of-the-art training tower that will serve firefighters and regional partners for decades to come.

The new five-story facility is being constructed from ISO shipping containers and is designed to provide realistic, hands-on training in nearly every aspect of the fire service. The tower will feature dedicated live-fire training rooms, ventilation props, forcible entry and cutting stations, rappelling capabilities, an SCBA maze, smoke simulation systems, standpipe operations, interior and exterior stair systems, and numerous other training props that allow firefighters to safely train for the challenges they face in the field.

In addition to serving Prescott firefighters, the facility will provide valuable training opportunities for neighboring fire departments and public safety partners, strengthening regional cooperation and preparedness throughout Northern Arizona.

This project marks an important milestone for a department that has been serving the Prescott community since 1885. Prescott's previous training tower went into service in 1979 and trained generations of firefighters. However, live-fire training was discontinued in the structure in 2000 due to safety concerns, and the tower was ultimately demolished in 2023 because of its deteriorating condition.

Prescott Fire has needed a modern training tower for many years. Through the steadfast support of our community, Prescott Fire was able to advance the construction of this vital training facility. We offer our sincere thanks for community member's continued confidence in our mission.

This tower is more than a building—it's an investment in firefighter safety, professional development, regional partnerships, and the continued protection of the communities we serve.

Training today. Protecting tomorrow.

Recently, Prescott crews had the opportunity to receive hands-on training with Central Arizona Fire and Medical's Water Tender 51 (WT51). Becoming familiar with the apparatus used by our partner agencies is another important step in ensuring we are ready to respond together when our communities need us most.

This training also provided valuable experience for several of our probationary firefighters as they worked on completing water tender-related tasks in their Position Task Books (PTBs).

Prescott Fire is committed to efficiency, continuous improvement, and building better processes that save both time and taxpayer resources.

This year, we focused on a major overhaul of our staffing software system, UKG Telestaff, with the goal of improving functionality and streamlining daily operations. In addition, members recently participated in training centered on process improvement strategies, including increased automation and more effective workflows designed to reduce administrative burden on staff.

The goal is simple: do things better. By identifying inefficiencies and improving how we work behind the scenes, we are able to free up valuable time, strengthen accountability, and allow our members to focus more fully on serving the community.

This commitment to refinement and innovation reflects our ongoing effort to be a more effective, modern, and responsive organization—both on and off the fireground.

Prescott Fire Department and Central Arizona Fire and Medical are launching a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) to help reduce wildfire risk and strengthen the safety and resilience of our communities.

Did you know our region's Wildfire Hazard Potential is higher than 97% of communities across the nation? That places our residents, infrastructure, and first responders at an increased risk from wildfire.

Community input is essential to the success of this plan. We invite you to take part in shaping how we prepare for, mitigate, and respond to future wildfire threats.

Please take a few minutes to complete our CWPP questionnaire and share it with your friends, family, and neighbors:
