Today my Sisuk Tony Chuy passed away. He was Grandmaster Chu’s younger brother, and an exceptional Praying Mantis and Qin Na master. I’ll always remember his amazing Lion Dances and forms demonstrations. They were incredible.

At the Chu Tai Chi celebrations over the years, Sisuk offered several Bagua demonstrations as well. Seeing those demos played a big part in inspiring me to learn Bagua. A few years ago I gave him a call and am happy I was able to express my gratitude.

This is a terrible loss for all of us in the martial arts community. His Praying Mantis was priceless.

First Bagua Double Tipped Spear lesson with Shifu Li yesterday. I felt obligated to learn spear, but after starting I feel quite passionate about it. The spear has a very martial and animated spirit that really appeals to me.

When I asked Shifu Li about some of the more dangerous moves that have the tip being drawn back towards yourself, she said, “Not dangerous, suicidal.” 🤣 The spear is her favorite weapon.
