Welcome to one of our team meetings at Tequendama mill with the production and processing teams! Coffee from Finca Las Isabellas has started to arrive at the mill, so we’re making sure all machinery, patios and raised beds are in top shape for the busy months ahead.

Visual health is not readily available to El Salvador’s rural populations, so as part of our Growing Together Program, we made it a priority to make this accessible to our communities.
During last month’s visual examinations, over 200 students and teachers were examined by FUDEM professionals (Fundación para el Desarrollo de la Mujer), with 37% of them needing glasses, which we, in collaboration with , will be providing to them.

Thanks to support, last month we were able to provide visual exams for students and teachers from the Ayutepeque and Las Cruces Schools. These schools are located in our neighboring communities, which are part of the Growing Together Program: our initiative to improve the quality of life and long-term sustainability of our collaborators!

Prior to every harvest season, we paint and conduct in-depth cleaning for all our wet mill’s machinery. The mill will be running non-stop until the end of the season in March, so making sure it stays in top shape is the best way for us to ensure both quality and the longevity of our operations.

Showcased in these photos you’ll see this year’s flight crop. In the days leading up to the main harvest, we cleanse all premature cherries (both green and overly ripe) in preparation for the real harvest season. This allows us to homogenize quality and set the scene for our collaborators to begin harvesting only the ripest cherries. We’re one step closer to being able to share our coffees with you!

How it started vs. how it‘s going! As we walked around the farms during our latest visit we were able to see how cherries are starting to ripen! The term for this is ‘pintando,’ because the coffees are beginning to be painted red from ripening.

We want to give a huge shout out to our producing partners in El Salvador. Over the years working with them through our Growing Together program, we have seen how their quality and yields have been improving, and we’re proud to include them into our San Jorge blend. In this blend you’ll be able to find nutty, chocolate, and caramel notes with a creamy texture!
