Happy Purim!!! 🎉 Did you know the tradition that Queen Esther, the heroine of the Purim story, was actually a scribe who knew how to write Torah script? We learned this on camera while interviewing the wonderful contemporary scribe ! This is especially
meaningful because for many centuries, only men were allowed to serve as Torah scribes, an important role in the transmission of sacred texts. We’re so delighted to shine a light on one of the premiere women scribes working today, in honor of Purim!

Julie also demonstrated the beautiful, ancient method still used by scribes today: writing sacred Jewish texts with a feather and ink.🪶

On Purim we ask about the ethics of power, and imagine how things could be different as we move towards a more just world. Get ready for Purim, and Celebrate Esther, Julie, and the power of storytelling today with our Esther episode! Link in bio 👑
