College Undergraduate Biomedical Informatics and Data Science Internships
Are you a college undergraduate seeking a paid internship in biomedical informatics and data science? We are accepting applications for our College Undergraduate Biomedical Informatics and Data Science Internship Program this summer at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU).
These internships provide full-time experiences to increase your knowledge and skills in these areas. The program’s goals are to provide exposure to biomedical informatics and data science with respect to best practices, impact of research on medicine and health, as well as possible graduate study and career paths. In addition to participation in a faculty-led research project, the experience will include:
Knowledge of the motivations, activities, and challenges for biomedical informatics and data science
Skills development in data science through the use of standard data sets and tools
Training in responsible conduct of research
Student-led and faculty-facilitated health data ethics and equity seminar
The overarching goal of this program is to support educational activities that encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences, to pursue further studies or careers in research. Due to funding agency requirements, this program is open to U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents only. Some of the positions will be funded by a new program from the US National Library of Medicine to enhance diversity in biomedical informatics and data science. The application deadline is February 23, 2023.

Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in Biomedical Informatics and Data Science
Openings for postdoctoral research fellowships in biomedical informatics and data science are available at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). By providing a structured research experience with the option of coursework and/or pursuit of a degree, the program prepares fellows to undertake independent biomedical informatics research in the academic community, or to assume leadership positions in the growing number of hospital and/or commercial efforts in biomedical informatics. Postdoctoral positions are open to any qualified individual with a doctoral degree (MD, PhD, DDS, etc.), with the fellow also strongly encouraged to also pursue a master's degree in the OHSU program.
Support for the program comes from OHSU's National Library of Medicine (NLM) T15 Training Grant. The fellowship package includes a stipend based on the NIH postdoctoral fellowship salary, health insurance, conference travel, and all tuition and fees. Candidates for the NLM Postdoctoral Fellowship must be US Citizens or permanent residents. The application period closes on Friday, March 3, 2023.
