ife. Homeownership education is critically important, especially in today’s economy, to ensure consumers understand their options and make strong financial decisions. Recognizing the number of new, current and future homebuyers in need of services, Avesta Housing established the HomeOwnership Center in 2012. Through this work, Avesta Housing provides another way to help families stabilize their housing costs and increase their economic self-sufficiency. The center provides homebuyer education to help consumers prepare for sustainable homeownership, helps consumers learn how to invest wisely on affordable and appropriate mortgage products, and offers foreclosure prevention counseling to help people retain their homes. Over the past year, the Avesta HomeOwnership Center has helped more than 450 individuals and families buy homes, learn how to maintain their home, avoid foreclosure and improve their credit and overall financial capability.
