Fully reflective of life: PSU Opera’s Puccini double-header • Oregon ArtsWatch Portland State University’s opera program presented a pair of strikingly different productions of “Suor Angelica” and “Gianni Schicchi.”

I recently tasked with putting together a College-centric portfolio for a potential photography client.

It took more than a few hours to scour through the tens of thousands of campus-related photos I've taken over the last decade, but now getting to see some of the best shots all in one place, for the first time ever, I am incredibly proud of the work I've done in the post-secondary sphere and I look forward to the work yet to come.

The past few months have been a time of reflection, change, and big decisions. After years of working as a photographer, I’ve decided to fully embrace it as my profession. To mark this fresh start, I’m officially launching Lanning Photography (website link in comments).

Photography has been part of me for as long as I can remember, and though I've done my best to keep it as a hobby, life changes and golden opportunities (ie, you know, fate) have provided a fertile ground for this seed to grow into its next phase. I'm terribly excited, but also a bit nervous—I've never taken a leap like this before.

A big heap of thanks to Suzanne and her wonderful team at Community Compounding Pharmacy in beautiful Lake Oswego.

Over the last few months I've had the privilege of helping them revamp their website (link in comments) with fresh headshots, group photos, and workspace photography.

I've enjoyed every bit of this project and am very proud of the results.

I had an unexpected and thrilling photo assignment this Tuesday, courtesy of the PSU Foundation. I found myself capturing truly memorable moments, including snaps of Oregon's Governor alongside other notable dignitaries like US Senator Earl Blumenauer, Jordan Schnitzer, and Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler. It was an honor and a rush, and I'm excited to share some of the highlights with you all.

This Tuesday was a very exciting day for PSU. We announced that Jordan Schnitzer, a noted Portland philanthropist and member of one of PSU’s most generous benefactor families, made a $10 million gift to support our mission and to revitalize downtown Portland. The gift is exciting and worthy of celebration because it supports multiple, connected efforts related to arts education and downtown activation. A portion of the gift will provide capital support for PSU’s new Art + Design building, which will break ground this year. In recognition of our decades-long relationship with the Schnitzer family, PSU will name its school of art and design the Schnitzer School of Art + Art History + Design. We are deeply honored by Jordan Schnitzer’s continued commitment to Portland’s renaissance. Read more in the link in bio and stories.
