XRPDX takes the data center awareness campaign to SW Portland.
The World on Fire Firetruck was there to support volunteers and highlight the extreme wastefulness of the data center boom that utilizes vast quantities of energy, water, and land.
Many data centers are being constructed to facilitate the expansion of artificial intelligence and Bitcoin for capitalistic and materialistic purposes, not to benefit people and planet.
It is time to end this expansion before more damage has been done. Make sure to Vote by dropping off your ballot at an Official Ballot Drop Site location by 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

The Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF) is a critical source of climate funding for the City of Portland, enabling meaningful investments in community-based solutions.
A contested police union’s proposed measure would have amended the city charter to divert critical resources from this integral source of climate funding that is a key part of the City of Portland’s climate action strategy.
Multnomah County Circuit Judge Eric Dahlin issued a ruling siding with supporters of environmental justice and the clean energy transition.
The police union’s reaction to this decision seems like they’re cleared for gathering signatures. But the reality is that re-filing a new initiative, surviving another legal challenge, and gathering 40,437 valid voter signatures before the deadline of July 6th, 2026 is a near-impossible task. It took about 2.5 months for the most recent legal appeal process to play out.
