Hey Extracto family,

We support the strike and all it stands for with our whole hearts. You all hopefully know what we’re about.

Opening on Friday is a decision we have a lot of consideration.

Quick explanation: We’re donating 30% of sales to PIRC and ECO and closing early so the crew can honor the strike as they choose.

Long explanation: For a number of reasons, we decided to open for limited hours. Being open will help us pay our wonderful crew.

We also want to keep the community gathering space the coffeehouse offers available. These are dark times. Our hope is that Extracto offers a safe, welcoming place to gather and find respite.

We also took into consideration that as a part of the local food service community, we rely on small local vendors and they rely on us. We need to take care of each other to help keep our favorite local places open. January is especially hard.

If you do stop by or shop anywhere else, paying in cash will help limit interactions with big business and also saves us the processing fees.

If you choose not to spend any money Friday, please consider donating (on Saturday) what you might have spent, to one of the many organizations helping our communities and our immigrant neighbors.

Community is everything.
