This is an enchanting and deeply personal album that rewards with close listening!
My new record is finally out today, and available in all the places. I am so thankful, and kind of astounded, that making music still feels as essential and charged and life-saving now as it did when I began. Songwriting remains a strange tethering of extreme loneliness and extreme connectedness. Thank you to everyone who has listened so far, and especially those who’ve gotten in touch to tell me so. Chekhov said (or at least George Saunders said that Chekhov said) that the purpose of art is to “prepare us for tenderness”. My hope for these songs is that they help you stay tender. 🐺

Long out of print, Peter Broderick's "How They Are" is out today, reissued on vinyl LP. It features a download code with a previously unreleased track "On Top and All That". The entire day-long recording session was recorded to video and the original takes have been viewed hundreds of thousands of times on YouTube. I'm thankful to have been involved on the editorial team, and to have these brilliant men for friends!
JB154 – Jealous Butcher Records …It’s easy to yearn for the days when our adopted home cities were full of optimism and possibility. It was Portland in the 1990s, under the radar and not yet discovered by chic restaurateurs, baristas with mustaches, and an IFC variety television show.
