What a day! Congratulations to all the soggy runners and fans at today’s Boston Marathon! Des and Yuki crushed it the gnarliest conditions I think the race has ever had and fans still had that special spirit. Watching today’s race made me so nostalgic for this same day 10 years ago, when I had the privilege of being the Assignment Chief Photographer for our kick ass team of five fellow BU grad school photogs. Having press credentials for the 2008 race and covering the world’s most famous and oldest marathon is an epic experience I am honored I had. And in my hometown, no less! The city is electric and shows the amazing power of sport and running to bring people together in harmony from all around the world — to just RUN and support each other. In a field of 25,283 runners then (over 30,000 today), most did not know the person pacing next to them on their left, nor the fan screaming encouraging cheers to their right, nor the volunteer handing out water and high fives on the 26.2 mile course. But it DOES NOT MATTER. This event makes everyone feel like they DO KNOW everyone else, and now since the 2013 race bombings, that energy and bond is even stronger.

Stellar group! So sad it was the last Cat Chat of the season :(

To be honest, I wasn't quite sure how we'd fill a 2-hour discussion about reviews, but holy smokes did we ever. We could have kept talking, too! At last night's Fireside Chat we learned:

1) It's not enough just to get good reviews, you have to do something with them once you have them.
2) The difference between testimonials and reviews.
3) Everyone loves Starbursts!

Things I leaned at last night’s Fireside Chat about differentiation:

✅ The correct pronunciation of the word verbiage.
✅ There’s no such thing as better, but there is such thing as better fit.
✅ Referring clients to other vendors sets the Maine wedding industry apart.
✅ Wine makes people talkative! 😆
