Psanctum Open Mic

Dear Friends,
The Psanctum Open Mic has gone fishing.
After 7 years of community space holding, we’re taking a pause—for rest, reflection, and whatever wild songs the waters might bring.

We don’t know exactly when we’ll return, but the spirit of the mic lives on in every brave voice, every sacred silence, and every story still waiting to be told.

Until then, keep creating, keep connecting, and maybe cast a line into the unknown. 💜🐟🎤

Hey friends! With our store closing in two weeks, we are excited to host our final Psanctum Open Mic at our shop!

Tonight we are excited to welcome David Connelly as our featured artist!

"David Connelly is a hip-hop artist from Portland, Oregon with a style that combines traditional and modern elements. Earlier this year on Valentine’s Day, he released his second album, “Passion Project” to all streaming platforms and has been steadily showcasing the album’s songs at open mics throughout the city.

With so much of popular music revolving around love, romance, and relationships, he wanted to dedicate something to this — thus Passion Project was born. Originally conceived as a lovey-dovey, warm-sounding mixtape, the album began to write itself after combing through old instrumentals from his friend “SERVPH!!” one summer night.

Essentially, this outing is a distinct departure from his debut, “HĀFU 2: SHIKATAGANAI” in that it’s more vulnerable and emotional as conveyed from the lyrics to the melodies. Played front-to-back, it follows the natural progression of meeting someone for the first time, to breaking up with them, to moving on to someone new, to breaking up with that person, to moving on on your own.

Breaking down the title, the main through-line is this: You can have a love for someone (Passion) and you can have a love for your craft (Project). You can find Passion Project wherever you listen to music."
