Grateful for a reason to get out of our grief for a few hours and deliver my books to Bookshop Santa Cruz. ♥️ My mom and I had a lovely day together with the dogs. Back to consulting regarding autism next week.

The redwoods at Henry Cowell were majestic and healing. The stay at Chaminade was rejuvenating. Caregiving is such a mix of wonderful, deeply scarring, and challenging. It is not for the faint at heart. And caregiving without a sibling’s help makes it even more complex and emotional. I’m incredibly grateful to those who go into being paid caregivers to allow my mom and I the opportunity to connect for 24 hours so we can keep going. To live one’s life to the fullest includes the tough stuff too.

This angers me that the US government engages in such time and cost consuming activities to HARM such a small and vulnerable population (fewer than 01% of adolescents - see comments for source). Can't they think of other useful things to be doing with that time and energy!!!!!!????? Like help people, bolster mental health supports in our country, create housing and employment pathways? ugh.

Trump Moves to End Gender-Related Care for Minors, Threatening Hospitals That Offer It Proposed new rules would punish the hospitals by pulling all federal financing. Advocates say lawsuits will follow.
