When trimming an applique piece that extends OUTSIDE the outline of your ITH project, DO NOT trim outside the outer seam! There will be no satin stitch there. The edge of your applique piece will pull right out when you turn your project.
These Christmas hot pads are a great example. Santa's red hat is an applique piece. The gingerbread man is an applique piece. And Rudolph is an applique piece!

🤠 Boy Howdy do I have some life update stuff to tell y'all about.
I want to save the biggest news for my birthday, so I can bask in the glow of recent accomplishments on my special day.
But first, since my good news-es all seem to revolve around moving these days, I want to tell you a story about something that happened to me a few years ago that I persevered through.
When I first separated from my ex, I moved into a tiny apartment by myself. (No, it wasn't ideal or even, I think, the right thing, for me to move out, but there were reasons.) When the lease was up on the apartment, I had to find a house suitable for me and my sons to live comfortably in. This was 2021 so although rent still felt ridiculous to me, it hadn't risen to the level it has now and I still made enough to provide for my family.
So I found a house on the outskirts of Williamson County so my sons could stay in the same amazing school district, but just in the cheaper part. 🤣 I work from home, so no commute anyway!
I was accepted, put in my deposit, and ordered a REAL couch (I'd lived with a futon for almost a year) to be delivered to the new place. I got my kids registered for the zoned school. I did all the things that moms do.
On the Friday 8 days before my scheduled move, I called the property management company, Progress Residential, just to check that everything was still going as planned. I have an INCREDIBLE intuition; that's one thing you should know about me. And I hadn't dealt with a COMPANY in a long time; I'd been renting from an individual for over 7 years. Well, the fella who answered my call quickly informed me that the tenants in that home had not moved out - they were essentially "squatting" in the house. There was no way it would be ready for me to move in the next weekend. Wait, WHAT?! "When did you think you were going to tell me that???!" I shouted into the phone. I regained my composure, and informed him that he needed to help me find another house in the same price range and area. SOMEHOW, there was a house for the exact same rent that was approximately .5 miles away from the first. Same school. And that's where we ended up, and made our first memories in Spring Hill - just three years from our move that would take us out of the Southeast US forever.
We are set to move this month, and this one, too, has a wild story behind it! I can't wait to tell you about it, and how I overcame more obstacles than ever before.
