The Portland Food Project is a revolutionary idea. It's a donor drive, not a food drive. Rather than asking for one-time contributions of food, volunteers enlist their neighbors to become regular donors. People commit to giving a food every two months, which provides food pantries with a steady, year-round supply, and provides the donors with the ongoing satisfaction of making a real difference.

Family-friendly King Farmers Market is a relaxed community block party with a vibrant neighborhood vibe. Parents shop for groceries while the kids are within eyesight. Acclaimed local food vendors. See you there. Sunday, Sept. 20, 10am-2pm in the parking lot of King ES, NE 7th Ave & Wygant St.

Love a parade? On Saturday, Aug. 15th, the eclectic and fun Multnomah Days street fair is in central Multnomah Village. One of our 16 pantry partners, Neighborhood House, is the honorary Grand Marshal of the parade from 10-11. We’ll see you there!

Happy Idealist Day from Portland, Oregon! Today, 8/8, happens to also coincide with the Portland Food Project’s second Saturday of even months’ Green Bag Day, when volunteers pick up bags of food donations from neighbors to be distributed to food pantries around town. If you’re looking for an easy way to contribute to your community, sign up for pick ups. Their 10/10 pickup date also coincides!
