ICYMI: Great article in the Portland Mercury by Jeremiah Hayden. There is a current push to institute a universal human rights screen for Portland's corporate investments.

To bat down this policy, some councilors are claiming in bad faith that such a policy - and it's advocates - are antisemitic.

Linked in this article is Portland JWJ's letter (one of 4 letters!) saying that these comments gravely mischaracterize the intent of the policy, which we strongly support.

We don't want city finances invested in the very folks who harm the people we aim to uplift, workers and communities.

City Council is on the verge of passing Code to make the CEI Hub SAFER!

WEAR RED and attend tomorrow's (Thursday's) Council deliberations starting at 2pm to support the community coalition's amendments which will strengthen safety measures and stand up to legal challenge!!

Help get community-driven CEI HUB Safety policies through City Council!

We need a crowd of supporters to show up at City Hall this Thursday, October 1, from 2-5 pm, wearing red, to observe council discuss the community driven amendments on CEI HUB safety. Let’s fill the chambers and show councilors we are watching and are holding them to the highest standards!

In the meantime, please call and write your district City Councilors and ask them to:

1. Support the community coalition driven amendments.

2. Include guardrails to prevent any unintended loopholes that could allow dangerous expansion of fuels at this risky location.

Please help us spread the word! Even if you can only come for a while, or to work on your computer or phone while there, we need the community present to show that we are witnessing the Council's actions on these critical safety and risk reduction policies.
