Hey, fans of all things creative!! It's time for another First Friday at Past Lives Makerspace THIS Friday, August 7th, from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Come meet our featured maker — Past Lives O.G. Dixie Junius — where she'll be signing copies of her book of visual poetry, Circling the Start. She'll have all manner of art on show and available for purchase, ranging from paintings and uniquely patterned scarves to stunning mosaic art, including small wall hangings, pendants, and earrings. Dixie's art makes a wonderful gift for someone you love (including yourself!). There's lots of other art to browse in our Gallery, as well!
Plus, you can also make a craft to take home. We'll be playing with Rainbow Scratchboard, a fun and simple, doodle-friendly medium that's easy for anyone to enjoy!
About Dixie Junius
Raised in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York, Dixie Denman Junius attended Hartwick College and graduated from Boston University. After pursuing a corporate career in Boston, she moved to Southern California, where she became known for her handmade paper and fiber art. Currently, in addition to her ongoing art practice, Dixie teaches intuitive watercolor and papermaking at Past Lives Makerspace, where she's a long-standing member.
Dixie's work has been featured by Van Vliet Gallery in a solo show: Mystery and Meaning. Her work has been displayed in other venues, including Red Trillium Gallery, Phoenix Rising Gallery, and DailyPaintworks.com.
Anhinga Press has published a book of her visual poetry, titled Circling the Start, featuring original works juxtaposed with digital glitches of her images.
